What is Pilates?

Developed in the early 20th Century by Joseph Pilates, it is a mind/body exercise system designed to optimise physical fitness in people at every level of physical activity. Pilates initially designed his ‘equipment’ to help rehabilitate bed bound prisoners of war during WW1 regain strength and mobility. When Joesph Pilates moved to New York in the 1920s, he soon established a devoted following from the local dance community.

STOTT PILATES is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Jospeh Pilates. It includes the modern principles of exercise science, fascial fitness and spinal rehabilitation making it one of the safest and most effective methods available. STOTT PILATES exercises help both men and women of all ages develop optimal strength, flexibility, endurance and posture without building bulk or stressing joints.
